I'm overcome with deep gratitude today. It has been 5 years since I learned I had kidney cancer. 5 years ago I was just finishing up an internship in my hometown when I started experiencing intense lower back pain. The pain I latter learned was a bleeding tumor. Though the whole cancer process was only over the course of a month and a half, the memories from that experience are ingrained in my daily life.
I'm grateful for my amazing parents who encouraged me, patiently dealt with my whines and requests for HC-Orange drink. All of my siblings and friends were marvelous cheerleaders too, bringing me flowers and funny stories.
So maybe I only have one kidney, but loosing one helped shape me into the person I am today and for that I'm incredibly grateful.
aw emma! I can't believe it's been 5 years. You are such an example to me. not sure I would have made it through with flying colors like you did. Love you!
