Have you ever been surprised before? Like completely shocked surprised? Well back in February while visiting my dear friend Demelza a super great surprise ensued. I must explain that I met a lovely guy, Jacob, in December who I subsequently kissed at midnight at a great New Years dance party. Unfortunately this man works in the Philippines until May. But that did not stop us from having a fantastic week and a half of fun! Once he went back to his far away land we started talking, texting, emailing, and song sending quite a bit.
So..I invited him to Hawaii several times but he always had a myriad of excuses like oh my passport is expired, i have no time off, and I need to renew my visa, etc. So I basically accepted that he was not coming to Hawaii. While flying to Hawaii I secretly hoped he would be there but knew that was the crazy girl in my head. Once Demelza picked me up from the airport I knew I would have a great trip with or without the boy. So Demelza and I cruise over to the beach and then we go to her house. I was super stoked to meet her husband. So we arrive and she says, "It looks like Craig has a friend over." At that point I did not even consider that Jacob would be there. So we walk inside I meet her husband and then I meet his "friend." I learned that this friend lived in Hawaii too and went to BYU. This friend then explained that we had similar friends, I was instantly so confused thinking how the heck does this guy know someone I do. When suddenly the back door of Demelza's house flies open and Jacob comes running in. All I could say was "No! No! No!" I could not believe my eyes! Hands down the best surprise ever!
The best part was that Jacob was there cooking me chicken adobo, a Filipino meal he had promised me weeks before that he would someday make for me. What a dear!!
Hawaii was incredible! Not only did I get to see an old friend and her husband, but all the beauty Hawaii can offer. I ate scrumptious meals (two made by Jacob), kayaked to an island, snorkeled, hiked, whale watched, saw hula dancers, got caught in the rain, was read to on the beach, saw the gorgeous temple, met up with John and Em, paddle boarded, drank fancy drinks in a hot tub, ate too many malasadas, saw sea turtles in their natural habitats and saw the remains of USS Oklahoma. Demelza and Craig were the best hosts ever! But the trip was all the sweeter because of Jacob's surprise.
Hawaii is for lovers! Cute pic!
