All the garden building got me jazzed about the garden at my house. Melissa, Stacie, Johnny, and Melissa's pals all helped clear some space in the backyard. Johnny built the boxes and very soon we will be planting delicious tomatoes and berries.

Neighborhood House Garden
Nearly two years I helped build straw bale gardens on some property a local nonprofit organization owns. It was incredibly difficult to clear the land of the thistle and weeds but we did it. And the property served as community gardens to local refugees and other community members. The gardens we designed were temporary. When I was at church a few weeks ago I learned my ward was going to be doing a garden project on the very land I helped build the temporary straw gardens. So I helped built permanent gardens on the land I had spent so much time upon. It was fun to come back and help with the effort. I'm a big fan of gardens and I think the impact on local communities is an added benefit.
