Today while at lunch with my friend Cassie, we were discussing recent office drama topics when a woman sitting in a table next to us noticed a little boy behind us who had lost his mother. She immediately went over to the little boy and worked to comfort him and ask him questions about his Mom. He looked no older than 4. The woman's friend went to find a mall security guard. I looked around the mall from my lunch position to try to spot a guard when suddenly I heard a woman shriek "Oh there you ARE!!" I turned to see this little boy rush to his Mom's arms and he hid his face in her shoulder, I'm guessing to cry. The frantic mother was happy her boy was found and hugged the nice woman was there to comfort her son as she declared her gratitude for finding her boy.
Watching this whole process set me into an insta-cry. I thought of how both the Mother and the Son had such intensely worried emotions. I instantly thought of myself at that age frequently lost in stores with tears streaming down my face as I looked for my Mom. I was really good at wandering off.
But this whole experience reminded me of the love our Savior has for us. I thought of the lost sheep who are perplexed and concerned and don't know how to find their way back to the shepard. Sometimes people help them find their way home and sometimes they don't and further confuse the sheep. Seeing that warm embrace filled with tears, relief and smiles reminded me that Jesus Christ is just as concerned about my welfare, safety and happiness. I'm forever grateful for that knowledge that I'm loved and that my paths have purpose. I hope to be a nice woman who offers comfort and kindness to those lost souls in my life. I'happy for the kind friends who offer help and guidance when I catch myself getting lost, for them I am truly grateful.
You are an amazing woman and offer comfort and support to more people than you know! Love you, lady!
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed at how you can turn an experience into something that reaffirms your faith. We both experienced the same situation and yet I just saw the sweet scene of a loving mother reunited with her lost son.
