Lemonade Stands

7 year old Emily made adult Emily promise to stop at all kid run lemonade stands when she has cash on hand. Today was one of those days. I flipped a U and then two kids one about 6 and the other 9 gleefully took my dollar in quarters for the lemonade. Grown up life looks a lot like this most days....me at a desk crunching numbers, opening file after file, discussing capital plans for the future year but the action of stopping at a lemonade stand causes pause. Their industrious spirits remind me to be grateful for my opportunity to earn and work. Maybe I'm not waving a handmade sign to sell my watery lemonade these days but there is a lot of joy to be had when you solve a tricky problem or collaborate with intelligent people to make things happen. I love that work can really be rewarding.
