To my Mom
Since I can remember I have always wanted to be like my Mom. She has a warmness and easy elegance I always thought all Moms had, not true. I wanted to perfect chocolate chip cookies but I have yet to make ones as good as hers. Her ability to convey so much love and concern when she says "oh Emma" proves what a deep love she has for me despite my crazy endeavors. I look back at photos like this one and realize my Mom is right, I do really dress like her from the 70s, and I love that. I remember best the 1990s version of my Mom that got perms and wore oversized blazers but was always willing to take me to the skating rink or Sea World. My Mom is still the keeper of wisdom and a constant guide on pollen counts but in many ways I have begun turning into her and I'm happy about that.
